The Shady stack makes it simple to apply the CSS3 box-shadow property to your stacks without having to learn any code. Just drop the stack onto the page, choose ‘Box Shadow’ or ‘Inset Shadow’ and then Shady will apply your chosen effect to any stack you place inside it – whether it’s a text stack or an image or a strip of social icons, map, button group and so on.
You have control over the horizontal and vertical length of the shadow, together the with the amount of blur and spread, along with the border radius, the surrounding space and the colour of the shadow. The default settings provide an ‘all-round’ shadow but you can create a more traditional side-and-bottom version by changing the horizontal and vertical length settings. The result isn’t as swish as the ‘lifted corners’ effect that’s currently rather popular, but it’s still a good way to punch-up content that might otherwise be lost in the hubbub of a busy web page.
If you want the box shadow effect, this neat little stack will save you from having to track down and implement the CSS yourself, so will be attractive to code-averse Rapidweaver users. It’s free, but if you find yourself using it in a project, the author welcomes donations via the Stacks4Stacks website. Note that you’ll need Rapidweaver 6 and Stacks 3 to use Shady.
