Duo Theme

Duo is an elegant-looking theme with an unusual split screen layout which by default,  divides the page equally between the main content area and an extra-wide sidebar. It’s a simple idea but one that’s surprisingly liberating because it stops you thinking about page layout in a top-to-bottom way and gets you thinking about page layout, period.

Duo’s sidebar sits under one of only two Extra Content Areas (after the rash of themes offering a gazillion EC areas it’s rather nice to have your options limited like this) and can be set to expand with the main content area or vary depending on what you put inside it; the second EC area sits at the bottom of the site between the main content and the footer.

Multithemes is one of the few developers that still makes extensive use of the Theme Styles option in the Page Inspector and provides 21 pre-baked font-and-colour designs to get you started. You also get 19 layout variations and these together with the provided demo project should get you into the theme with the minimum of effort.Duo includes responsive columns out of the box and you also get very smooth animation and fade-in effects, PrettyPhoto support for the Rapidweaver Photo Album page, Font Awesome built in, 20 Google fonts (some of which you might actually want to use) and a smart ‘back to top’ button.

Then there’s Multithemes’ own Plus Code which allows you to add animations and FX to text, Font Awesome icons and images. This is a bit fiddly to set up but you’ll find all the info you need in the Multithemes FAQ on the [Support page](http://www.multithemes.com/support/index.php) and in the demo file that’s provided with each theme – these effects are really worth exploring and we reckon that with some decent images, Duo includes everything you need to create an attractive and compelling site without having to buy any extras.

Visually, Duo reminds us of Elixir Graphics’ excellent Lightning theme with one major difference – it’s responsive and works very well on mobile devices, right down to an iPhone in portrait mode. Interestingly, with the full screen horizontal menu displayed, drop downs stay visible even when you open another menu and although we’re not quite sure how useful this is, it’s an unusual effect.

Duo is currently available at a 30% discount and we’d highly recommend you take a look. Even at that price Duo is a real bargain, but as always Michelangelo has given us an extra 25% discount to offer you, which means if you use the discount code below you’ll be able to pocket the theme for less than half price! Take advantage of it now.
