Bricks 2 Stack

Bricks 2 | Elixir Graphics | $9.95

Bricks 2 is a masonry stack, so called because it allows you to arrange columns of content that may be different heights into an attractive design, automatically. The result is a flexible, responsive layout that can accomodate all manner of stacks – headers, text, pictures, lightboxes, buttons and more; you name it, you can probably incorporate it into Bricks 2.

As the name implies, this is the second version of Bricks and it adds a range of new features which makes it well worth the paid upgrade price. You’re no longer limited to 30 bricks for example, you can add new bricks by clicking the ‘+’ button at the foot of the stack, and best of all you can rearrange the order of bricks by dragging and dropping them into a new position.

But by far the best feature of Bricks 2 is that it does almost everything automatically, so you can concentrate on your content. You can set the gutter between bricks items (reducing it to zero allows you to create nice galleries of different shaped photos) define a target width (300px worked well with the themes we tried) and then select from one of 11 animations. Finally, there’s a loader option which is useful if your Bricks layout contains a lot of content that will take time to load.

After that, Bricks takes care of itself, re-arranging columns neatly on smaller screens without any intervention from you and delivering the kind of smooth, slick layout that will compliment the most elegant of Rapidweaver themes. We’re currently integrating Bricks 2 into a new site we’re building and it’s an absolute pleasure to work with. Highly recommended.

Note: Bricks 2 requires the Stacks 3 plugin and Rapidweaver 6.
