Author Card Stack

Author Card | One Little Designer | $9.99

Given the current vogue for everything freeform in the Rapidweaver universe, it seems that the pre-built and – even more important for many users – pre-designed, stack is rapidly becoming a thing of the past. So it’s good to see something like the Author Card stack come down the track.

The stack offers a simple way to present electronic business cards of the type you see all over the place on the web – nice photo of staff member, brief details of what they do, contact number, social media contacts and so forth. It’s the kind of thing you can create yourself if you have the design chops and are prepared to experiment by combining several stacks together to get the desired effect, but…

Why bother when for ten bucks, the Author stack can do all this for you? It has a slot for a photo, a bar for social media icons, pre-built bullet list for things like email address, phone number, location and so on, as well as a general well into which you can drop whatever stack you like. In addition, you get four ‘themes’ which change the look and feel of your cards – for example, adding a coloured background, placing the social bar to the right and framing the photo in a circle.

There’s a vertical mode which displays the stack as a portrait, a choice of six drop shadows, as well as the ability to set the colours for text, background, social bar, round the corners, set the width and more; you can even set the Author stack to display a speech bubble greeting when a visitor hovers their mouse pointer over the photograph.

As we said, you could no doubt achieve something similar using a variety of other stacks, but the beauty of the plugin is that the developer has done all the hard work for you. Given the number of clever design choices included in this stack and its potential use on all manner of different websites, for $9.99 it’s a complete and utter steal.
